I don’t know about you, but I didn’t get the manual for navigating the inevitable life and career transitions.
Over the years I have been coaching professionals on successful career transition, I have developed my own theories and techniques, so it was really fun to have a conversation with Lizbeth Hamlin, MA, LMFT on this topic.
Hamlin is a licensed psychotherapist with practices in Sonoma County and San Francisco. We talked about transitions – planned (retirement, empty nest) and unplanned (market changes, layoff, divorce, health diagnosis, death in the family).
Both of us shared very specific actions you can take to feel like you have more agency, so you can work through difficult issues.
Whether it’s learning to regulate negative self-talk, making time to sleep or meditate, or remembering to move your body, there are ways you can work with this stress and sticky energy to feel better.
We also talked about the importance of having support and remembering to connect with others.
