I hadn’t heard the term “throwing flowers” before Carol Roth used it in our interview about my new book, This Isn’t Working! Evolving the Way We Work to Decrease Stress, Anxiety, and Depression. www.ThisIsntWorkingBook.com
I immediately flashed to watching a regal ice skater or dancer taking their bow as the audience threw flowers onto the ice or stage.
Carol said that you may not know how to help someone who is struggling, but you could give them a book as a resource to help them.
Yes!
(And if you are struggling, pick up a copy for yourself as well.)
Here is Carol throwing flowers at me, and I am more than happy to receive them, and hold up a copy of my book with a big cheesy grin.
The longer interview covered many important topics, including the ROI for supporting employees’ mental health in the workplace, which is stunning.
By the way, the majority of employees (81%) expect employers to do this, so if you are not, you might want to start thinking about that.
We also talked about how small business owners might have a leg up with this because they don’t have the levels of sign-offs and compliance issues of big companies. I suggested some easy and inexpensive ways small businesses could start.
