Do you use LinkedIn to grow your professional network and business? Many of us do, and if you do not, you might want to consider starting. LinkedIn is specifically for business, and I believe a LinkedIn presence is a must for white-collar professionals.

That said, you might think you know what types of posts and what strategies are working right now on LinkedIn – but you might be wrong.

I loved this post by Jared Gibson of Outworks. He calls nonsense on several LinkedIn “facts” that turned out to be myths.

You’ve probably heard or read that people need to interact with your post within a certain time period if it is going to be successful. I know I thought that was true. Turns out it is a myth. I have to say that makes me feel a little better.

You may also have heard that editing a post kills its reach. Apparently, it’s okay to make a quick edit if you spot a typo within the first few minutes. This happens to me a lot, so that is good news.

I recommend flipping through this slide deck quickly (you can do that within the embedded LinkedIn post). This will get you up to speed on what is working on LinkedIn right now.

I felt pretty confident about my LinkedIn knowledge, but a few of these surprised me.

Posting good-quality. relevant content is the most important thing if you want to be successful on LinkedIn. Strive to educate, entertain, or inspire and you’ll get value from this platform.
